The Lunar Faire is a witchcraft-centric night market that occurs during every full and new moon.  It takes place in Northern New Jersey, and believe it or not, you have to purchase your tickets way in advance if you find yourself wishing to attend.  This is because it’s extremely popular!  The Lunar Faire is an outdoor market unlike any other- it specializes in witch goods, oddities, custom art, readings, unique handmade jewelry, and much morIn addition to shopping, those who attend the Lunar Faire will also have opportunities to participate in a variety of exciting activities.  Group spellcasting frequently takes place, focusing on both banishing negative energies and creating a joyous life for oneself and others.  There is a building used for connecting with others who you may not have met prior to the Faire and who share your interests.  This is called the “Merry Meet.”  In addition, live performances take place throughout the event.

I was fortunate enough to attend the August 8th Lunar Faire in Sparta, New Jersey.  I did not know what to expect, but I knew it was something I had wanted to do for a long while.  The camp in which the event was being held, Camp Sacajawea, was a vast landscape with an abundance of nature.  It was a calming atmosphere, and a great place to celebrate all that is arcane and mystical.

Of course, I found plenty of witchy supplies and items.  But- even if you aren’t coming looking for that type of merchandise- be aware that there is so much more.  If I had to describe the Faire in two words, it would be “weird and wonderful.”  All the vendors I visited were unique, none quite like any other.  This made the entire experience so much more interesting, and despite the sweltering weather, I did not want to leave until I was sure I’d seen close to everything.

You can tell the vendors put their heart and soul into creating items you won’t find anywhere basic.  It’s so refreshing to leave the hustle and bustle of the real world sometimes, support those devoted to their art, and be in such a peaceful and natural environment.

If this sounds like the kind of thing that suits you, perhaps you’d be interested in the next Lunar Faire.  It is set to take place on August 22nd, and if it’s anything like the first, magick will be in the air at every turn.
